Here’s a place very close to historic Route 66 and the Old Town neighborhood of Albuquerque that I was previously unaware — Bottger Mansion of Old Town.
According to this travel article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Bottger, built in 1910, is the only survivor of four mansions built in Old Town.
The B&B’s policies may be stringent for some people. But its history makes it intriguing, and the room rates — especially for its location — are quite good.
Ron, thanks for your comments about our B&B as an Old Town lodging option in Albuquerque. While there are some hotels north of Old Town, we’re the only lodging at all in the historic district. We’d love to get more folks traveling the Mother Road and have had some great groups from the UK who come to the U.S. every summer to do a section of it.
As to our policies being stringent, well, we have to have them and they’re pretty standard in the B&B industry. In a place that can accommodate 21 guests when we’re completely full, there have to be some house rules to make the stay enjoyable for everyone.
Again, thanks for the plugs for Albuquerque, Old Town and the Bottger Mansion!
