“66 Days on Route 66,” a documentary about Australian folk-rocker Grayson‘s musical tour of Route 66 in 2011, will make its debut on iTunes on Thursday, reported the Newcastle Herald in Australia.
The film’s world debut on the Fourth of July was intentional, methinks. Hopefully, American readers will be able to download or rent the film from iTunes, if there aren’t territorial restrictions. I didn’t see any previews for it on iTunes on Wednesday morning.
Here’s the teaser trailer for the movie, which was produced and directed by Molly DeBower:

It sounds like Grayson, whose birth name is Michael Edser, had a great time. According to the newspaper:
Edser hit the road to discover the US along the historic Route 66 last year and experienced eccentric locals in bars, performed at music festivals, fired his first gun and ate at several taco stands.
‘‘There was no bad food along the route,’’ he said.
‘‘However, the portion sizes were out of control.’’ […]
‘‘The food that I ate, the music that was played, the open road that was driven and the friends I made along the way were unforgettable. Route 66 will live with me forever.’’
According to the newspaper, the documentary also will air on PBS television stations in the U.S. later this year.
