Nick Gerlich, a marketing professor at West Texas A&M University, has turned into a Route 66 enthusiast in recent years and has explored even the most obscure alignments of the Mother Road.
Here’s a new video about him and his hobby:

As he mentioned in the clip, Gerlich and several other professors are taking a survey of Route 66 travelers to see what motivates them to travel the old road. The confidential survey comes in 13 languages, and should take only about 15 minutes to complete.
Here’s the link to the survey.
Gerlich will publish the findings to the Route 66 community. He had posted the survey online last week, but with many roadies traveling to the International Route 66 Festival in Joplin, I decided to hold off posting it on Route 66 News until a time when most of them would be back home.
Route 66 already boasts the impressive Route 66 Economic Impact Study for the use of researchers. However, that study already is a few years old. It would be good to compare that study to Gerlich’s survey to see whether people’s attitudes are changing and whether new trends are popping up.
Thanks for the post and all your hard work Ron. You are apprciated.
