Yesterday, we told you about the neon relighting ceremony that would occur tonight at the History Museum on the Square in Springfield, Mo.
On Wednesday, workers were installing the refabricated sign on the museum’s roof, which used to be Barth’s department store:
According to KOLR-TV:
The iconic sign had been part of the square since the turn of the 20th Century and was taken down to be sent off and totally refurbished and re-established.
“It’s gonna be re-lit with new neon and everything so it will look just like it did at the height of its exposure,” says John Sellars, museum executive director.
The sign was first put up in 1914. The History Museum on the Square will “flip the switch” during a re-lighting ceremony at 9 p.m. tonight.
