New lodging in Lincoln

Route 66 travelers soon will have a new option for overnight sleeping in Lincoln, Ill. It’s the Windswept Manor bed-and-breakfast, and it opens for business on Friday, reports the Bloomington Pantagraph.

The Windswept Manor is at 227 N. Logan in Lincoln (map here). It’s on a 1926-40 alignment of Route 66, which goes more through the town’s center. The Windswept also has a Route 66 room:

The room themed for the 1950s and Route 66 is “the absolute cutest room,” Logsdon said. That room has a headboard like the back of a diner booth, black and white checked curtains and tiled floor, a chalkboard with a menu posted on it and a bed with a poodle bedspread.

The owners are Brad and Diane Logsdon, who also own the Mystery Ink Dinner Theater, Capone’s tavern and the Elizabeth’s Receptions reception hall.

According to the Windswept Manor’s Web site, it is an Italianate style home that was built in 1859. Rooms range from $75 to $125 a night.
