See the new home of Ike’s Chili — and its neighbors

The new site for Ike’s Chili isn’t open yet, but KTUL-TV in Tulsa provided a look behind the scenes at 11th Street (aka Route 66):

Ike’s Chili, which marked its 100th year a few years ago, has been on Admiral Place — an older alignment of Route 66 — for nearly a half-century. So it packing up to a somewhat newer alignment of 66 is almost a sideways move. Ike’s is widely regarded as the oldest restaurant in Oklahoma.

One of Ike’s operators previously said the move was made into a historic Plainsman building because of the excitement of 11th Street’s ongoing revitalization, plus the restaurant will own its place outright instead of leasing.
