Weigh in about Route 66

A person from VirtualTourist.com asks this question on a BostonNow.com community forum blog under the title “Route 66: Overrated or Underappreciated?”:

Q: I’m going to be in the U.S. for five weeks, and I’m trying to figure out whether I should do Route 66 as I head east?

The response provides both pros and cons of doing the Mother Road.

A response says that “only portions of the original route … remain,” which makes it sound like remnants are few and far between. However, it’s widely acknowledged that at least 85 percent of original Route 66 still exists, and that’s not counting obscure alignments.

You know what I think. But, if you wish, surf on over and give the fellow some friendly advice in the comments section.

  1. My comment is a suggestion;
    After reading Route 66 in Chicago and Traveling the Historic Three;
    Give this one a look; “Southside Kid” by L. Curt Erler https://www.southside-kid.com/
    You’ll find a few ‘road’ stories here. Route 66 is there … Daggett, Holbrook and more – also, a skinny white kid and a fun loving black truck driver traveling through the south in the ’50s. Oh my … you don’t know what you’re in for.
