The town of Kingman, Arizona, saw a sizable increase in revenue because of the International Route 66 Festival in August, according to an article in the Kingman Daily Miner.
Here’s the breakdown from the July-to-September period:
• Nearly 39,000 travelers visited the Powerhouse Visitor Center, a 20 percent increase over the same period in 2013 and a 40 percent increase over 2012.
• Of those 39,000 visitors, many belonged to one of 75 groups to visit the Powerhouse, a 27 percent increase over the same period in 2013 and a whopping 114 percent over the year prior.
• Room tax revenues increased to more than $116,000, nearly 12 percent more than the previous year.
The newspaper also reported that the Powerhouse Museum had 4,500 visitors during the festival time period — more than double a typical week. The festival also boosted year-to-year revenues by $8,000.
