While poking around Grand Canyon National Park’s website, I found this well-done 10-minute video about Phantom Ranch, at the bottom of the canyon. The video went live only a few weeks ago.
Not only is the footage breathtaking, but you’ll find at least one indirect link to Route 66. Mary Colter, who designed Phantom Ranch, also designed La Posada in Winslow, Arizona, and other sites in the Southwest. Phantom Ranch was built by the Fred Harvey Co., which still has its fingerprints all over the region.
Although the Grand Canyon sits 60 miles north of Route 66, it remains one of the most popular side trips for Route 66 travelers.
The video was produced by Bristlecone Media in California.
