Galena, Kansas, soon will begin to brick-selling campaign for the second phase of a downtown revitalization program along its stretch of Route 66.
According to the Joplin Globe:
According to City Council member Ashley Qualls, the approximate cost to complete Phase 2, targeted for Main Street from Fourth Street to Front Street, is $340,000.
The project will include new sidewalks, old-fashioned lamp posts, and the re-milling and resurfacing of Main Street, Qualls said.
Galena will start selling the bricks April 15. The pavers will cost $50 or $100 each, with an extra charge for inscriptions. The campaign also offers a variety of options, including replica bricks you can take home. All of the proceeds will go toward the revitalization project.
City officials realize it could take years to fund the second phase, calling the campaign of “marathon.”
