The Flintstones Bedrock City theme park and campground south of the Grand Canyon and north of the Route 66 town of Williams, Arizona, has been put up for sale for $2 million, according to ABC News.
Established in 1972, the family business has a gift shop, restaurant, RV park and convenience store, as well. With 30 acres, the seller says redevelopment opportunities could include a casino, resort, time shares or an outlet mall, according to the brochure.
Holly Hulen, the daughter of the owner, Linda Speckels, told ABC News why her mother is selling the property.
“My mother is 73 and she and my father built that business,” Hulen said from Arizona. “My father passed away over 20 years ago. She’s been running it herself, and she’s ready to retire. She’s ready to enjoy her grandkids and not worry about managing a business.”
Alas, anyone who buys the property with an eye of keeping the Bedrock City and its 1960s “Flintstones” cartoon theme will have to renegotiate the terms with creators Hanna-Barbera.
This video from August shows the wonderful weirdness of the complex pretty well:
Flintstones Bedrock City is at the junction of U.S. 180 and Highway 64, where the main roads from Williams and Flagstaff, Arizona, join. It’s 23 miles south of Grand Canyon National Park and 30 miles north of Williams.
Another Flintstones Bedrock City is in Custer, South Dakota.
