If you’re not already stuffed from your Thanksgiving dinner, you might have an appetite after viewing this advertisement from a Route 66 classic in Springfield, Illinois.
The Cozy Dog Drive-In has operated along Route 66 on Springfield’s south side since 1949. although it dates back further than that. More about the restaurant’s history and Ed Waldmire’s crucial role in the creation of the corndog are here.
Of course, Ed Waldmire spawned famed artist Bob Waldmire, who became a Route 66 legend of his own.
I always stop when traveling Route 66 through Springfield. When Buz was still operating I enjoyed his “magic” tricks. I’ve always loved corn dogs and never miss the chance to visit the Cozy Dog.
