Ramada Kingman in Kingman, Arizona, is asking Route 66 fans to help decorate the facility’s lounge, restaurant and lobby as part of the hotel’s continuing revitalization.
To that end, the Ramada Kingman is running a photo contest. More details from the news release:
Route 66 enthusiasts are being asked to share their favorite photos that capture the essence of the Route 66 experience. The photos will be displayed on the Ramada Kingman website and Facebook page where people can vote on the submissions.
Winning images will be reproduced as prints for display in the rooms, and throughout the property. The photographers that submit the selected photos will be awarded discount room rate packages and other prizes.
The photos may be submitted through the hotel’s website here. Drawing dates will be announced later.
The photo contest represents the latest stage in the transformation of a property that opened as a Holiday Inn in the mid-1960s. Murals, tour packages, special events and a renovation of the grounds from the swimming pool to landscaping since 2014 are part of the motel’s quest to become a Route 66 destination.
UPDATE 5/5/2016: Winning submissions were received from Blue Miller, H.J. Boersma, Geri Linda Metterle, Sandra Jungling, Rhys Martin, Geoffrey Goodway, Efren Lopez, Ash Gordoa, Dyna Muse and Martin Van Der Putten. Another photo contest will be held next year, with Arizona Route 66 as its theme.
