A Volkswagen minibus perennially parked in front of the Cross Eyed Cow Pizza restaurant in Oro Grande, California, was stolen, and the owner has offered a reward for its return.
According to the Victor Valley News:
If you’ve ever traveled along Route 66 through the town of Oro Grande you’ve likely seen the infamous Cross Eyed Cow pizza restaurant located at 19242 National Trails Highway.
Employee Danielle Boyd told Victor Valley News, the van was parked outside the business on early Tuesday morning and it suddenly disappeared. […]
The stolen 1975 old school VW Bug is an important icon for locals and tourist alike. “It’s our mascot we need that van back!” says Danielle.
The restaurant’s owner, Jim Granger, is offering $500 for the minibus’ return. The VW is used for pizza deliveries.
The Cross Eyed Cow probably is better known for its multicolored dairy cow perched on top of the building. It’s been there for years.
The restaurant also is a good Route 66 booster, plugging attractions such as the nearby Bottle Tree Ranch.
