Doctor nearly done with Route 66 run

Hope she has a lot of skinblock.

Dr. Kate Condon, a dermatologist from Great Britain, has completed nearly 1,800 miles of her running trek across Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles in an effort to raise awareness of psoriasis, a skin disease.

She an experience ultra marathoner and she’s in the home stretch, but she’s in the middle of the intense heat of the Mojave Desert.

She told the Bognor Regis Observer:

“It’s early in the morning here,” she said. “The temperature is 85C and it’s going to be climbing up to 110C.

“I try to do most of my miles before it gets too hot. The temperature has been the biggest problem I have faced.”

The story got the temperatures wrong. It should be Fahrenheit, not Celsius. A temperature of 110 C is beyond the boiling point of water. It’s hot in the desert, but it’s not that hot.

Journals of Condon’s run can be found here and here.
