Williams in the spotlight

It’s not often that a small Route 66 town gets prominent ink from two large daily newspapers in one day.

But here it is, with Williams, Ariz., in the spotlight.

First, the Arizona Republic is previewing the town’s Cool Country Cruise-In and Route 66 Festival this weekend. It’s co-sponsored by the chamber of commerce and Twister 50’s Soda Fountain & Route 66 Cafe. Go here for more information on the festival.

Second, the New York Times featured Williams in its Great Homes and Destinations section. Even average-size homes are going for $400,000 there. I strongly suspect the town’s temperate climate — it rarely gets above 85 degrees in summer — have a lot to do with that.
