This sounds promising. A movie starring Renee Zellweger, “My One and Only,” is at least partially set on Route 66, according to the Mountain View Telegraph in New Mexico.
The movie, set in 1953, is based on the early life of actor George Hamilton, on the road with his mother and brother. Zellweger, as glamorous Anne Deveraux, who is based on Hamilton’s mother, Anne Hamilton Spalding, embarks on a city-to-city road trip down the East Coast, across the Midwest and along Route 66 all the way to Los Angeles, seeking to find a worthy replacement for her philandering husband, played by Kevin Bacon.
The catch is that the filming that day was in Mountainair, N.M., which is southeast of Albuquerque and not on Route 66 (it is on old U.S. 60).
That doesn’t mean that other shooting locations won’t be on Mother Road, however. According to other reports, the movie also takes place in Los Angeles. And IMDB.com reports that other shoots were held in Santa Fe.
The movie is slated to be released in 2009.
