For a fun look into the past, take a look at this 15-minute promotional film that touted the virtues of the Route 66 town of Amarillo, Texas, and the surrounding region.
The film was created between 1962 and 1964 by Southwestern Public Service Company and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. The colors of this clip really pop out and create a link to the past.
Near the end of the film, you will see a few vintage signs for various motels including the Ramada Inn and the Plainsman Motel, which an old postcard stated was “east on Highways 60 and 66” in Amarillo.

Whatever happened?
The Sixties happened, for one thing.
That’s my hometown. Haven’t been back there for years but I still have fond childhood memories of Underwood’s Barbecue and Wolflin Village.
