The Route 66 Road Fest in Oklahoma City and Tulsa in June has been postponed to 2022 due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a story in the Claremore Daily Progress:
“Like everyone in Oklahoma, we must do all we can to ensure public safety,” said Jared Peterson, president of AAA Club Alliance Great Plains Region. “We look forward to a time when long and short road trips become the norm again. By 2022, many more people from around the country and region will have a chance to join us here in Oklahoma for a celebration of the Mother Road.” […]
“While the pandemic may have pushed our celebration back a year, it has not diminished our enthusiasm for celebrating Route 66 and the highway’s historical and cultural ties to Oklahoma,” Peterson said. “We can’t wait to roll out the Road Fest in 2022.”
Firm dates for the festival will be announced later. It was slated for June 18 in Tulsa and June 26 in Oklahoma City.
Both events would have featured immersive historical journeys through the decades, allowing visitors to travel through time from the 1920s to futuristic visions of the Great American Road Trip. It also would have included food, games, live music, RVs, motorcycles and a variety of cars.
Proceeds from the festival would be used to help fund the Route 66 Revival Fund to pay for signage, beautification, walkability, street lighting, bike lanes, historical markers, restrooms, and other amenities along Oklahoma’s Route 66. The Revival’s website also stated it could help support the preservation of the original route and encourage new businesses, such as motels, shops, diners and other roadside stops and attractions.

Pretty much of an overreaction by June.
