Del’s Restaurant, which has served locals and travelers along Route 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, for more than 60 years, underwent an ownership change last week.
Chase Waters, a Tucumcari native who first worked at Del’s as a 15-year-old, on Wednesday took over the restaurant from sisters Yvonne Braziel and Yvette Peacock, who had run Del’s for more than 26 years. They had wanted to retire for several years.
Waters had managed Chili’s and Olive Garden restaurants in Texas before returning to his hometown.

Waters said in an interview for another forthcoming publication he would not change the menu and might add a few items in the coming months. He also said he’d keep the current staff.

Great, the death sentence for a lot of restaurants is , they change the menu. The old adage, if it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. Last time through there was a bit of time ago, May 2011, my retirement trip to Branson, coming back Route 66, the food there was great!
