The half-Corvette at Seventh and Main streets (aka Route 66) in Joplin, Missouri, that’s served as a photo op for about a decade is being temporarily removed for a face-lift.
KSN-TV reports:
It will be removed sometime during the week after Thanksgiving — repaired, repainted, and re-installed by the local business, Mafia Paint Shop. The hope is to have it back in place a few weeks after the work is finished.
The so-called Route 66 Mural Park — where two alignments of Route 66 intersect — features one-half of a 1964 Corvette embedded in a wall and two tile murals.
The two Route 66-themed murals – “Cruisin’ into Joplin” and “The American Ribbon” — were created in 2013 by Joplin-based Images in Tile.
