The Route 66 village of Riverton, Kansas (population 771), has a lodging option with the charming-looking Old Riverton Post B&B.
The site sits at 7378 Southeast 70th St., less than a half-mile south of Route 66 in town. It’s basically the first street south after you pass the landmark Old Riverton Store on Route 66.
The loft contains two queen beds, a full kitchen and a balcony and comes with a continental breakfast. Nightly rates are $99 from March 1 to Jan. 1, and $89 from Jan. 2 to Feb. 28. Up to two pets are allowed, but with a $24 non-refundable fee.
The lodging quarters are in a loft on the second floor of a former Osborn Grocery and post office building built in 1898.
According to the business’ website, It operated as a general store until the late 1960s. The building was damaged by a big flood in 1993. Jim Adams bought the site in 2005 for $2,000 and completely restored it over the next year.
Jim and Kristi Adams then purchased the building in 2016 from The First Baptist Church of Riverton and refurbished it, converting it into a 60-person event center and bed-and-breakfast.
