Severe storm lops off head of Muffler Man at Uranus Missouri complex

A severe storm a few days ago ripped off the head of the Muffler Man at the Uranus Missouri complex near St. Robert, Missouri. The head will be remade and reattached.

The American Giants page on Facebook initially reported the damage that occurred Monday night. It reported Mark Cline will make a new head.

Laura Abernathy Huffman, media rep for Uranus Missouri, said in an email the detached head ended up more than 500 feet away.

The Pulaski County News also reported the storm knocked down a tree at the Uranus Missouri entrance. The complex also lost power, but it was restored a few days later.

Though damage in the region was widespread, no injuries were reported.

The 22-foot-tall Mega Mayor, which resembles Uranus Missouri owner and self-proclaimed mayor Louie Keen when he’s dressed up in his American-flag-inspired costume, was installed in 2021.

The Lauterbach Tire Muffler Man in Springfield, Illinois, suffered a similar beheading during a severe storm in 2006. The head was repaired and reattached.

  1. “Well, Mr. Giant, you lost your head but at least the rest of you and Uranus are okay!”
Sorry, someone had to make the joke, it’s required.
