Call the small town of Atlanta, Illinois, the Land of the Giants.
Lumi, a nearly 20-foot-tall female fiberglass giant holding a pie, was added Friday at the Country Aire Restaurant in Atlanta.
That includes the Bunyan giant installed in 2003 along the original Route 66 in downtown Atlanta, plus the American Giants Museum that opened last year across the street.
Here are images from Lumi’s installation Friday:
Bill Thomas also posted photos of the prep work on Lumi.
Lumi is a Uniroyal Gal variant of Muffler Men created during the 1960s and ’70s. Lumi is a creation by Mark Cline that was installed by Re-Giant, which also installed the Texaco Big Friend at the American Giants Museum.
The Country Aire sits on the 1947-1977 alignment of Route 66 and is just a short distance from Interstate 55.
