On Friday afternoon, Jim Conkle of the Route 66 Alliance released the long-awaited details about the 2009 Will Rogers Awards banquet that will be Sept. 12 in Flagstaff, Ariz., as part of the annual Flagstaff Route 66 Days that week.
The banquet will be from 7 to about 9:30 p.m. in the main ballroom of the Little America Hotel. Tickets will be $40 apiece, with chicken or pork as the main dinner entree. Conkle, in an e-mail, promised “lots of surprises in mystery guests and speakers” as part of the program.
Reservations are being accepted. “We are working on setting up a system to take credit cards,” Conkle said, but for now checks for the banquet tickets can made out to Mother Road Enterprises and sent to P.O Box 290066, Phelan, CA 92329-0066. Conkle said that more information also would be listed in the upcoming issue of the Route 66 Pulse newspaper, which should be distributed within the next two weeks or so.
The host hotel will be Little America, with a cost of $109 for singles and $119 a night for doubles.
