The 80-year-old Front Door building on Route 66 in Strafford, Mo., which once was cited by Ripley’s Believe It or Not as having two fronts, is now being used as an after-school hangout for latchkey teens, according to the Springfield News-Leader.
The Front Door Student Center is a project led by Alter Student Ministries and the Strafford First Assembly of God.
The center will offer two areas to continue the two-door theme. The learning facility will offer tutoring classrooms for formal after-school programs, a study lounge and large video production suite/classroom. The area also offers WiFi Internet access. During the dedication ceremony, the learning facility was dedicated to longtime Strafford residents Carl and Delores Keiser, who own the building.
…The north part of the center will house a cafe, game center, pool table and board games and a concert stage. The first concert in the completed facility is scheduled for March 25. The bands will include Tragedy, Rebellions Fall and Famous Among Friends. Admission to the concert will be $5.
The concerts and the proceeds from the cafe will be reinvested into the center and will help cover the operational expenses. In the near future, Hahn plans to have the cafe open from 10:30 a.m to 1 p.m to offer a lunch alternative to the community.
